So yesterday was the Alabama Primary Election. For those of you who don't know this, my husband, Michael is down there for the year running a campaign for Congress. His candidate came out on top in a 6-person race yesterday - awesome news! However, since he didn't get more than 50% of the vote, there will be a run-off on July 15, so the marathon sprint continues. We are very excited that one election is done - 2 more to go. That's one election closer to coming home.
Speaking of marathon sprints, (or really 5K's), I was scheduled to do my longer run tonight. When I got to the gym, it was closed for the night due to a power outage. Yipes! I kind of freaked out. I couldn't run outside because it was pouring out. I can't run after work for the rest of the week because I have plans (more on that later). So - I've decided that I'm getting up early (so not me), and hitting the gym in the morning and just getting ready for work there. Knowing me, I'll forget something critical - like my towel or deoderant. Or underwear. Or shoes. (Maybe if I list all the things I might forget, I'll actually remember them...)
So my plans tomorrow night. My friend, Lauren had her baby yesterday. (Huge congrats, Lauren & Pete!) We are going to see them in the hospital tomorrow. I am so totally happy for her, honestly. But it dawned on me today that I would be going to see a newborn baby. A newborn baby just like the one I would be giving birth to at about the same time if IVF #1 had worked. Surprisingly, I'm actually feeling okay about it, though. I'm just hoping I'm still okay about it tomorrow when I'm there in the hospital looking at this little miracle of hers. Here's hoping I stay strong. After all, this isn't about me! (Sometimes, I think that needs to be my mantra.)
Then, Friday I'm heading to the beach for a long weekend with a friend. Looking forward to some quality girl-time. I'm thinking that eating, drinking, talking and laying on the beach are must-do's on our agenda. Not sure that running is going to make it in there... It's not like I'm trying to WIN the race next weekend, after all.
