In a Funk

In case you've been wondering, that's where I am right now. In a funk.

We had a crazy time at work with a federal review (which actually went really well - thanks to my team), then an awesome week at the beach with my family. Since then, we've been dealing with a broken A/C, a dog who jumped our neighbor's mastiff (read - vet bill and risk of lawsuit), some almost jobs for Michael, and - as usual, a whole lot of limbo.

In some ways, I feel like this unemployment thing is a lot like infertility. You get your hopes up over and over again just to have them trampled. I feel like we are constantly waiting. And there is no end. I just want it to be over.

See - I told you I'm in a funk. Aren't you glad you popped in?

So sorry you are in a funk. I agree with you about the similarities between infertility and unemployment. So very stressful. An unending roller coaster is tough. Hugs to you. I can only say that I hope things get better soon.

I'm sorry things aren't going so well right now. I know this funk place of which you speak and it really does suck... Many hugs.

We're here to listen anytime.

I popped in to say thank you so much for your lovely comment on my recent post, and now can't understand why my google reader has not alerted me to the fact you have recently posted way more than I have been told about. How annoying.

Sorry to hear you are in a funk. I was, only yesterday in the shower, musing about similarities between infertility and unemployment. Trying in my head to come up with an analogy people could understand, when they are surprised to hear I am not comforted by these words: "at least you know you can get pregnant."

My analogy would be this: you have been trying to find a steady job for 6 years. Every year or 18 months you land a position, and then after 4, 6, 8 weeks, you get fired for no reason. Then you remain unemployed for a further year or so, trying your heart out to to find work and it happens again: you get the job, do everything possible to keep it, and then get fired anyway. This goes on for 6 years. But hey, "at least you know you can still get a job, right??" - ok, so now in that scenario are those words comforting? No, I didn't think so.

Hugs to you and Michael.
